Nio has introduced limited-edition versions of its ET5 electric sedan and ET5 Touring wagon as part of efforts to stimulate demand for its sedan lineup.

The new variants, branded the Far Sky Edition, feature an exclusive purple exterior design and are limited to 555 units. Nio said deliveries of the limited-edition models will begin later this month.

The ET5 Far Sky Edition is priced from RMB 313,000 ($44,450) including a 100-kWh battery pack, representing a RMB 15,000, or about 5%, premium over the standard model’s starting price of RMB 298,000. Under Nio’s Battery as a Service (BaaS) program, the model starts at RMB 205,000, with a monthly battery rental fee of RMB 1,128.

The ET5 Touring Far Sky Edition starts at RMB 316,000, or RMB 18,000 higher than the entry-level Touring model. Its BaaS starting price is RMB 208,000, with the same monthly battery subscription fee. This marks the first time the ET5 and ET5 Touring have carried different prices within the same trim level, reflecting additional standard equipment on the Touring version, including roof rails, a custom roof box and roof rack crossbars.

Beyond the limited editions, both models continue to be offered in standard versions starting at RMB 298,000, as well as Champion Edition variants priced at RMB 316,000.

Nio said the Far Sky Edition’s design draws inspiration from snow-capped mountains in Xinjiang’s Altay region blending into the winter sky. The models also feature exclusive decals and 20-inch wheels. Customers in China who purchase the limited-edition vehicles before December 31 will receive incentives including 48 free battery swap vouchers and five years of free NOP+ driver assistance features.

The launch is the latest in a series of special editions introduced by Nio this year to raise the profile of the ET5 lineup. In July, the company released Champion Edition variants for the ET5, ET5 Touring and EC6 coupe SUV. In October, it launched a Tron-themed black ET5 Touring, also limited to 555 units. Regulatory filings last week also showed Nio has registered new Clean Parks Edition variants for the two models.
