MSI has introduced a new portable electric vehicle charger, expanding its charging hardware lineup with a device aimed at both home installation and on-the-go use.
The EZgo portable charger delivers up to 40 amps, or 9.6 kilowatts, of output and supports a wide input voltage range from 100 to 240 volts. It is compatible with standard household outlets as well as higher-capacity connections through interchangeable NEMA 5-15 and NEMA 14-50 plugs, allowing users to charge from either 120-volt or 240-volt sources.

The device is rated IP66 for resistance to dust and water and has been validated to withstand being driven over by a vehicle, according to the company. MSI said the charger complies with UL 2594 and UL 2231 safety standards and uses flame-retardant materials designed for long-term exposure to heat and ultraviolet light.
The EZgo is offered with either a Type 1 (SAE J1772) connector or a Tesla-compatible North American Charging Standard (NACS) plug, attached to a 25-foot charging cable. A built-in 1.8-inch display shows charging status and power data, while physical buttons on the unit allow users to adjust current levels or set delayed charging without relying on a smartphone.

For additional functionality, the charger connects via Bluetooth to MSI’s aConnect mobile application, which supports multi-user access and does not require exclusive pairing to a single account.
“Portable charging shouldn’t feel like a compromise,” said Engin Yoruk, North America product manager for EVSE at MSI, adding that the EZgo was designed to combine higher power output with durability and simple controls.
The EZgo carries a suggested retail price starting at $349 and includes a three-year warranty. MSI said the charger is available through online retail channels, including its own store and Amazon.

Alongside the portable charger, MSI also announced an expansion of its residential wall-mounted charging range with the EV Life Premium model. That unit offers up to 14.4 kW of output, supports both hardwired and plug-in installation, and includes network connectivity features aimed at home and small commercial users.
