Voltpost said it is moving to scale production of its lamppost-mounted electric vehicle charger in the United States, aiming to shorten deployment timelines for urban charging infrastructure by using existing streetlights and parking lot poles.
The New York-based company launched the Voltpost Air charger last year, a next-generation design that mounts higher on lampposts rather than at ground level. The approach allows chargers to be installed in a matter of hours, avoiding excavation and other civil works that often slow down urban charging projects.

Voltpost said the Voltpost Air will now be manufactured at scale in partnership with EVSE LLC, a Connecticut-based charging hardware supplier. The system is compliant with Build America Buy America requirements. Connectivity for the chargers is provided by AT&T, while charging operations are managed through Voltpost’s software platform, which serves public agencies, utilities and private customers.
The lamppost charging concept is based on using infrastructure that cities already have in place. Urban areas typically have dense networks of poles and access to grid power, making them suitable for curbside charging without the space, cost and permitting challenges associated with traditional standalone chargers.
EVSE’s contribution includes its patented AutoCoil retractable cable system, which automatically retracts the charging cable when not in use. The companies said the design helps reduce exposure to vandalism and weather-related damage, issues that frequently affect curbside charging equipment. EVSE said the cable system has been tested in multiple projects across the United States.
Voltpost also announced that James Everley has joined the company to lead business development. Everley previously worked at ubitricity, a firm known for deploying lamppost charging solutions across Europe and later expanding into the U.S. market.
