Mercedes-Benz is preparing to launch a new generation of its vans and commercial vehicles in 2026, starting with the successor to the EQV. The next iteration of the Sprinter, along with the new luxury-focused VLS and commercial variants, is expected to deliver major advancements in performance, software, and efficiency, driven by 800-volt technology.
Mercedes-Benz Vans, which traces its commercial vehicle legacy back nearly 130 years to Carl Benz’s first motorised delivery van, will introduce the fourth-generation Sprinter next year.

Electric mobility will take a central role in the new lineup, although Mercedes has softened its earlier plans for an all-electric range, now maintaining development of both electric and combustion-engine variants. Alongside the VAN.EA (Van Electric Architecture) platform, the automaker is developing VAN.CA (Van Combustion Architecture), with both sharing around 70% of components to optimise production efficiency.
The new electric platforms promise faster charging and enhanced performance. A prototype of the VLE, the successor to the V-Class, reportedly completed a 1,090-kilometre journey from Stuttgart to Rome with only two 15-minute charging stops.

Mercedes said both private and commercial variants will offer rear-axle steering for improved manoeuvrability and handling. Above the VLE, the new VLS will serve as a premium luxury van designed for VIP transport and mobile office use, with strong demand anticipated in the Chinese market.
Mercedes also previewed the fourth-generation Sprinter’s design and software capabilities. A “Boulder” sculpture unveiled at a company event provided the first visual hints of the upcoming van’s styling, featuring a long bonnet and modernised proportions.

The next Sprinter will integrate the latest version of Mercedes’ MB.OS “Chip-to-Cloud” system, enabling over-the-air updates, third-party app integration, and enhanced fleet management tools such as the “Van Uptime Monitor.” With these updates, Mercedes aims to redefine connectivity, efficiency, and customer experience in the next era of electric and hybrid commercial vehicles.
