Lexus has revealed specifications for its updated 2026 RZ electric SUV in North America, highlighting a longer driving range, increased power output, and Tesla-compatible charging. However, the automaker has left out the steer-by-wire system available in the European market.
The new model will come in three trims — the RZ 350e, 450e, and a new performance-focused 550e F Sport — with improvements across the board, including faster AC charging and a simulated gear-shifting feature designed to enhance the driving experience.
The base RZ 350e, equipped with a front-wheel-drive powertrain and a 74.69 kWh battery, offers the highest range of the lineup at 300 miles. Lexus says the motor delivers 221 horsepower, around 10% more than the outgoing model, and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds.
The all-wheel-drive RZ 450e uses the same battery paired with an additional rear motor, boosting output to 308 horsepower. That trim achieves a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.9 seconds but has a reduced range of 260 miles.
At the top of the range, the new RZ 550e F Sport comes with a larger 76.96 kWh battery and dual motors producing 402 horsepower. The most powerful variant in the lineup accelerates to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds but sacrifices range, with an estimated 225 miles per charge.
All trims now support Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS), allowing access to Supercharger stations. Lexus claims the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes. AC charging speed has also been increased to 11 kW, compared to 7 kW in earlier models.
A notable absence from the North American model is steer-by-wire, a system that allows the steering to operate electronically without a mechanical connection to the wheels. The feature is confirmed for the European version but not listed in U.S. specifications.
Drivers opting for the 550e F Sport will gain access to “M Mode,” a new virtual gear shift feature that Lexus says enhances performance and responsiveness to simulate traditional gear changes in an EV.
