Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Leapmotor has launched pre-sales for its new B01 mid-size electric sedan, positioning it as a cost-effective option in China’s increasingly competitive smart EV market. The B01 starts at RMB 105,800 ($14,770), undercutting rivals like Xpeng’s Mona M03 and offering several configurations with up to 650 km of range.
The B01 is available in five variants during the pre-sale period. Three versions equipped with a 56.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery offer a CLTC range of 550 km, while two higher-range variants use a 67.1 kWh LFP battery for up to 650 km. Prices range from RMB 105,800 to RMB 135,800. Select versions come with LiDAR technology for enhanced autonomous driving functionality.
The company showcased the model at the 2025 Shanghai auto show in April. The B01 measures 4,770 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,490 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,735 mm—placing it competitively alongside models such as the Xpeng Mona M03 and Tesla Model 3.
Leapmotor offers the B01 with two rear motor options producing peak outputs of 132 kW and 160 kW, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 6.4 seconds. Fast charging capability allows the battery to charge from 30% to 80% in approximately 18 minutes, according to the company.
The B01 marks the second model in Leapmotor’s B series following the B10 SUV, which launched in April. Aimed at a more price-sensitive segment than the company’s C series, the B lineup is part of Leapmotor’s broader strategy to drive volume growth. “We are confident in achieving monthly sales of over 40,000 units for the B series models,” Leapmotor management said in a March media interview.
Leapmotor currently markets several models in China, including the T03, C01, C10, C11, and C16. While most of its lineup offers both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions, the B01 and B10 are BEV-only.
