Kia’s electric van, the PV5, has entered the Guinness World Records after covering more than 430 miles (693 km) on a single charge while carrying its maximum payload. The record was achieved by the PV5 Cargo L2H1 model in Frankfurt, Germany, on September 30, 2025, showcasing the vehicle’s efficiency and endurance under real-world conditions.

Powered by a 71.2 kWh battery, the PV5 Cargo completed 12 loops of a test route that simulated typical city driving, including traffic lights, intersections, and roundabouts, with a total elevation gain of 1,200 feet (370 meters). The electric van drove continuously for 22 hours and 30 minutes before running out of charge, setting a new benchmark for light-duty battery-powered electric vans operating at full load.

“Even if Kia is new to the LCV market, this record is a testament to the versatility and innovation behind Kia’s first PBV, showing that we are serious contenders,” said Marc Hedrich, President of Kia Europe. “The fact that it ran for almost two full working days on a single charge speaks volumes about its real-world capabilities.” According to Kia’s internal tests, every additional 220 pounds (100 kg) of payload reduces the PV5’s range by only around 1.5%.

The PV5 is Kia’s first dedicated model from its Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) business, based on Hyundai’s E-GMP.S architecture. Available in Passenger and Cargo variants, the midsize van offers up to 4.4 cubic meters of load space and a maximum payload of 1,740 pounds (790 kg).
