Kia is preparing to introduce its new EV4 electric sedan in Canada, bypassing the U.S. market for the time being, as the automaker targets affordability and broader electric vehicle adoption in a market dominated by SUVs.
Kia Canada said the EV4 will start at C$38,995 ($28,900), positioning it as “the most affordable dedicated EV in Canada.” The model became available to order late last year, though customer deliveries are expected to begin in the first half of 2026.

The EV4 marks Kia’s first globally positioned electric sedan, following a lineup that has so far focused heavily on electric SUVs. Kia said the decision reflects an effort to offer Canadian consumers an alternative body style in a segment crowded with larger vehicles. All Canadian-spec EV4 models will include vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, allowing the car to power external devices.
For the North American market, the EV4 will be equipped with a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port and offers a driving range of up to 552 kilometres in the Wind Long-Range front-wheel-drive variant. Built on a 400-volt platform, the model supports fast charging from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes, depending on battery configuration.

Two battery options are available: a 58.3 kilowatt-hour pack for the entry-level Light Standard Range model, and an 81.4 kWh battery for higher trims including Wind, Wind Premium, GT-Line and GT-Line Limited. Range varies by version, from up to 391 km for the base model to between 488 km and 552 km for long-range variants.
Pricing rises to C$42,995 for the Wind Long Range FWD, C$45,495 for the Wind Premium, C$48,495 for the GT-Line Long Range FWD, and C$51,995 for the range-topping GT-Line Limited, available with front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

“The Kia EV4 provides the first accessible, all-electric sedan to Canadian consumers who are looking for affordability, without sacrificing advanced technology, cutting-edge styling, and the driving experience only a sedan can deliver,” said David Sherrard, director of strategic planning for Kia Canada. “The arrival of the EV4 further cements Kia’s commitment to providing widely accessible EV mobility solutions to the Canadian market.”
The EV4 models sold in Canada will be manufactured at Kia’s Autoland Gwangmyeong EVO Plant in South Korea. Kia has not provided an updated timeline for a U.S. launch, after previously announcing that plans to introduce the EV4 there had been postponed indefinitely.
