The first all-electric models from Jeep and Dodge have officially arrived at U.S. dealerships, marking a significant step in Stellantis’ electric vehicle (EV) strategy. Despite delays, the highly anticipated EVs are now available for purchase, as the automaker prepares for an all-out electric push in 2025 with additional models from Jeep, Dodge, and Ram Truck.

Originally expected to hit dealerships by the end of 2024, the arrival of Jeep and Dodge EVs was delayed due to software issues. Dodge CEO Matt McAlear discussed the extensive software refinements made to the electric Charger, noting that “90%-plus, 95%-plus” of the software had been fixed. He added that the final tweaks aimed to optimize the driving and charging experience. As of Friday, approximately 100 Dodge Charger Daytona EV models were delivered to dealerships.

Jeep also faced delays, with its Wagoneer S SUV, the brand’s first global electric vehicle, pushed back due to “100% software” issues, according to Bob Broderdorf, head of Jeep North America. Despite the delays, Broderdorf emphasized that the vehicle was “mechanically sound” and that the software was an essential learning process. The Wagoneer S is equipped with a 100 kWh battery, offering a driving range of over 300 miles, and features such as a reimagined seven-slot illuminated grille. The starting price for the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition is $71,995.

Jeep’s second global electric model, the Recon, is expected to launch in mid-2025. The Wrangler-inspired EV has already been spotted in testing and has been fast-tracked for production after Jeep overcame its software challenges with the Wagoneer S.

Meanwhile, Dodge’s Charger Daytona EV has been billed as “the world’s quickest and most powerful electric muscle car.” The Scat Pack trim offers up to 670 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, enabling a 0 to 60 mph sprint in just 3.3 seconds. The base 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T starts at $59,995, while the Scat Pack trim is priced at $73,190. Dodge plans to expand the Charger Daytona lineup with a four-door model in the second quarter of 2025.

With these new launches, Stellantis aims to strengthen its position in the growing EV market, despite the setbacks in production. The automaker is confident that 2025 will mark a transformative year with the introduction of several key electric models.
