Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) on Friday confirmed that its first multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) will be launched under the Luxeed brand, formally naming the upcoming model as the Luxeed V9.
“HIMA’s first MPV, the Luxeed V9 – a flagship masterpiece. Stay tuned,” the alliance said in a post on its official social media accounts, confirming earlier market speculation. The model is expected to be built on Huawei’s DriveONE 800-volt silicon carbide powertrain platform and equipped with a 192-channel LiDAR system, according to industry reports.

Luxeed is a joint brand developed by Huawei and Chery Automobile, with its current lineup including the Luxeed S7 sedan and the Luxeed R7 coupe-style SUV. HIMA’s broader portfolio also includes four other marques: Stelato from BAIC Group, Aito from Seres Group, Shangjie from SAIC Motor, and Maextro from Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC), reflecting the alliance’s broader push across the sedan and SUV segments.
The confirmation follows a teaser released by HIMA on Nov. 20 hinting at an upcoming MPV without disclosing the brand. A spy photo circulating on Weibo earlier this week further fueled expectations that the model would come from Luxeed. In August, Chinese media outlet Yicai reported that the MPV, internally codenamed “EHV,” is being developed on Chery’s E0X-L platform and is positioned as a luxury model.

The report said the V9 is expected to enter the market in the first half of next year, offering both extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants, with power batteries supplied by CATL. The project reportedly replaces an earlier Chery-only MPV plan in favor of leveraging the Luxeed brand’s growing market recognition.
