GWM has launched the Wey V8X, a five-seat sport utility vehicle aimed at China’s premium hybrid SUV market. The model is available in five configurations, with retail prices ranging from 239,800 yuan to 315,800 yuan and limited-time promotional prices starting at 226,800 yuan.
The V8X is the second production model based on GWM’s Global One S platform and sits below the larger six-seat Wey V9X in the brand’s lineup.
Five V8X Configurations Offered
Under the promotional pricing, the Wey V8X Sport Max starts at 226,800 yuan, while the Sport Ultra is priced at 266,800 yuan.

The Luxury Family Max is offered at 246,800 yuan, followed by the Luxury Family Ultra at 266,800 yuan. The range-topping Ultra+ is priced at 302,800 yuan during the promotional period.
GWM is also offering incentives for households that already own its vehicles. Buyers receive a 3,000 yuan discount for each GWM vehicle owned by the same household, with the benefit capped at 10,000 yuan.
Super Hi4 Hybrid System Offers Up to 500 kW
The V8X uses GWM’s Super Hi4 hybrid system and a four-speed hybrid-specific transmission. Buyers can choose between 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre turbocharged engines.
The top-end Ultra+ produces up to 500 kW (670 hp) of combined system output and 930 Nm of peak torque. GWM quotes a 0-to-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.5 seconds with a full battery and 4.7 seconds when the battery is at a low state of charge.
The Luxury Family Ultra and Ultra+ use a 66.6 kWh ternary lithium battery and an 800-volt electrical architecture.
6C Charging Adds 372 km of Range in Nine Minutes
The two higher-end Luxury Family variants support 6C fast charging. GWM says the battery can charge from 30% to 80% in nine minutes.
Both variants have a CLTC all-electric range of up to 402 km and a WLTC electric range of 312 km.
The Luxury Family Ultra also has a stated combined CLTC range of 1,659 km.
Two Body Configurations Available
The V8X is offered in Luxury Family and Sport body configurations.
The Luxury Family version measures 5,125 mm in length and has a 3,050 mm wheelbase. The Sport version is 5,040 mm long with a 2,968 mm wheelbase.
The SUV uses GWM’s Super Intelligent Chassis, which includes bidirectional rear-wheel steering with up to 20 degrees of steering angle and a claimed turning radius of 5 metres.
The vehicle also features a closed dual-chamber air suspension developed by GWM, with 100 mm of suspension travel, as well as continuously variable EDC damping.

Coffee Pilot 4 Adds Assisted Driving Functions
The V8X is equipped with GWM’s Coffee Pilot 4 assisted driving system.
The system uses Nvidia’s Thor-U computing platform with 700 TOPS of processing capability, together with one LiDAR sensor and 11 cameras.
GWM said the system can support functions including vehicle start-off, lane changes, speed adjustment, U-turns and automated parking through voice commands.
The V8X also supports point-to-point Navigation on Autopilot, allowing assisted driving between parking locations.
V8X Enters Competitive Premium SUV Segment
The V8X enters a crowded Chinese premium SUV market, where it will compete with models including the Huawei-backed Aito M7, Avatr 07L, Voyah Free and Audi E7X.
The model also faces competition from battery-electric SUVs such as Nio’s Onvo L80 and the IM LS6 from IM Motors.
