Geely has accelerated its European expansion by launching two SUV models—the all-electric Geely E5 and the plug-in hybrid Geely Starray EM-i—simultaneously in Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
The rollout marks Geely’s coordinated entry into key Western European markets, with a focus on the high-volume compact SUV segment. The company confirmed it will debut in Germany with new retail locations, including its first showroom in Aachen.
Ahead of the launch, Geely announced starting prices for Germany, with the E5 available from €37,990 and the Starray EM-i from €32,990. Both models will form the brand’s initial lineup in the country from May.
The Geely E5, known as the EX5 in some markets, is a battery-electric SUV positioned between the compact and mid-size segments. Built on the company’s Global Intelligent Electric Architecture, the model offers up to 475 kilometres of range in its latest version.
The front-wheel-drive vehicle is powered by a 160 kW electric motor delivering 320 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 175 km/h. Customers can choose between two lithium iron phosphate battery options—60.2 kWh and 68.4 kWh—with the higher range figure associated with the larger battery.
The second model, the Starray EM-i, is a plug-in hybrid SUV combining a 160 kW electric motor with a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 73 kW. Equipped with a 30 kWh battery, it offers up to 136 kilometres of electric-only range and a total range exceeding 1,000 kilometres under WLTP conditions.
Geely said both models are positioned with a strong price-performance ratio and come with extensive standard equipment. The company is also offering an eight-year or 200,000-kilometre warranty covering the entire vehicle, including the battery, to build customer confidence in new markets.
To support its European expansion, Geely has established a regional spare parts hub in Amsterdam, forming what it describes as a logistics network combining a central warehouse with national satellite facilities. The system is intended to support aftersales operations across multiple markets, with France expected to follow.
The automaker has also introduced 24/7 roadside assistance services in each of its new European markets.
The multi-country launch underscores intensifying competition in Europe’s electric and hybrid vehicle segments, as Chinese manufacturers expand their presence with competitively priced models and integrated service offerings.
