Freyr, a Norwegian battery company has announced the establishment of a campus and technology resources business unit in Japan. Freyr’s Japan office is located in Fukuoka and includes a technology resources campus.
This business unit in Japan will focus on efforts to facilitate and improve the testing and development of the 24M Technologies battery platform
In addition, the unit in Japan is expected to provide a platform for recruiting and hiring people experienced in battery technology.
āJapan is a global center for battery development, and accordingly home to some of the most experienced and capable lithium-ion battery cell experts in the world,ā said Rune Nordgaard, FREYR’s Country Manager, Japan.
In his press statement, Freyr did not reveal the size of the team in Japan. What is clear, Freyr is targeting Japanese specialists in the field of battery development.
Freyr also hopes that the creation of the Japan business unit will help accelerate and support its collaboration with other 24M licensing partners based in the region, along with material and equipment suppliers.
Earlier, the Freyr board approved the construction of the first battery cell plant in Rana, Norway, with production set to begin in the first half of 2024.
