Ford has launched the F-150 Lightning pickup truck made specifically for the police fleet in the United States called the Ford F-150 Lightning Pro SSV.
These vehicles will help police departments save costs, drive efficiencies and accelerate customer sustainability goals. Ford vehicles have been used in police departments for more than 70 years.
Today, Ford Pro customers include more than 12,000 police departments across the US and its line of police vehicles sells more than all other police vehicles combined.
“The Pro Power Onboard can serve as a mobile power source to illuminate nighttime crash sites on the highway, the electric powertrain helps reduce costs associated with fuel and scheduled maintenance,” said Ford Pro national government sales manager Nate Oscarson.
The Ford F-150 Lightning Pro SSV 2023 combines the power and performance of the familiar Built Ford Tough, including the ability to accelerate from 0-60 mph in under four seconds.
Technologically, this vehicle uses Intelligent Range, SYNC 4, the Ford Power Up software update over-the-air and Ford Co-Pilot 360 technology, including Automatic Emergency Braking and Blindspot Information System.
The Ford F-150 Lightning Pro SSV is designed to address special departmental needs such as assisting at an accident or crime scene as well as giving departments the ability to tow boats or trailers.
Inside, the Ford F-150 Lightning Police vehicle comes with a 12-inch digital cluster display and a 12-inch landscape-style touchscreen.
Furthermore, there are seats with reduced cushioning to help officers get in and out of the vehicle more easily. The vehicle has a roof-mounted red/blue, yellow/white LED warning beacon.
