After much anticipation, Ford Australia has confirmed that the 2024 Mustang Mach-E will hit showrooms between October and December of this year, with pre-orders starting soon. While the electric crossover has been available in the United States for over two years, the car manufacturer has taken its time in selling it Down Under.

The Mustang Mach-E will be available in three models, with the base Select model fitted with a 71 kWh battery pack that drives an electric motor at the rear wheels with 198 kW (265 hp) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque. It has a range of 470 km (292 miles) on the WLTP cycle. The Premium model sits in the middle of the range, using a larger 91 kWh battery and a rear-mounted electric motor with 216 kW (290 hp) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque, and has a range of 600 km (373 miles) on the WLTP cycle. The range-topping GT model also uses a 91 kWh battery but has both front and rear electric motors, pumping out a combined 358 kW (480 hp) and 860 Nm (634 lb-ft) of torque throughout all four wheels. It has a range of 490 km (304 miles).

All models of the Mustang Mach-E arriving in Australia will come with standard features like a 15.5-inch portrait infotainment screen, a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium sound system, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic roof, and a wireless charging pad.

Andrew Birkic, the Managing Director of Ford Australia, believes that the time is right to sell the Mustang Mach-E locally. “There’s probably three key things: Is there a customer? Is it commercially viable? And can we get sufficient supply to bring it in?” he said. “Really what we’ve got now is that formula where we can do that – as you know, it’s been incredibly successful overseas – so what we now have is a blend of those things that allows us to bring it in. Not only in sufficient quantities but also with a sufficient mix.”

The Mustang Mach-E’s arrival in Australia is sure to shake up the electric car market, giving consumers more options when it comes to choosing an eco-friendly vehicle that doesn’t skimp on style or performance. With its sleek design, impressive range, and advanced features, the Mustang Mach-E is poised to be a hit among Australian car buyers looking to make the switch to electric vehicles.
