Swedish logistics company Falkenklev has added six electric Fuso eCanters to its fleet, furthering its commitment to sustainability and reducing emissions. The vehicles, supplied by Daimler Truck’s Fuso brand, are exclusively used by DHL for distribution operations in Malmö and surrounding areas.

Falkenklev’s fleet already includes a range of electric vehicles, including an eActros 300 from Mercedes-Benz, five electric trucks from Scania, and 20 eSprinters. In addition, the company has installed 22 charging points, originally set up for its own electric fleet but later made publicly accessible. CEO Victor Falkenklev noted, “So we quickly turned it into a charging park that is open to the public during the day, and it is used by many people here in the industrial area.”

The six newly added eCanters represent Fuso’s first delivery in Sweden, as the manufacturer seeks to establish a stronger presence in the country. The 8.55-tonne trucks, which feature a 4.75-metre wheelbase and can carry up to 15 pallets, will be used for short-distance delivery operations primarily in Malmö’s urban areas. According to Falkenklev, the eCanter “fills the gap between vans and heavy-duty delivery trucks, and are exactly what we were looking for to electrify our daily deliveries for DHL in the center of Malmö.”

With a battery capacity offering a range of up to 140 kilometres, the eCanters are well-suited for the short delivery routes of about 20 kilometres, with 20 to 30 stops per trip. The vehicles are equipped with the size M battery pack, enabling them to complete multiple daily rounds without the need for frequent recharging. Falkenklev expressed a long-term vision for his fleet, stating that the company aims to become 100% electric in the future. He added, “I want a greener future for my two young children and for myself. But that will only happen if everyone in their own area becomes active and makes a difference.” With around 140 trucks still in operation, Falkenklev sees significant potential for further electrification in the company’s logistics operations.
