Everything you should know about Livan RL9 electric SUV

On December 17, the Livan RL9 was introduced to the market in China with a base price of 109,900 yuan – 129,900 yuan ($15,750 – $18,600) after subsidies. This electric midsize SUV is built on the GBRC (Global Battery Rapid Change) Crystal platform and comes in four different trim options. The manufacturer of the Livan RL9 has stated that the vehicle comes with a 4-year/150,000 km warranty, while the battery pack has an 8-year/150,000 km warranty.

Livan Auto is a joint venture between Geely and Lifan, founded in January 2022. The company specializes in battery-swapping technology and has a goal of building 5,000 battery-swap stations in 100 major cities by 2025. In addition to battery swap service, Livan Auto also focuses on repurposing decommissioned batteries and recycling end-of-life batteries.

Recently, Livan Automobile introduced the GBRC crystal architecture, which features a chassis-based battery replacement system with a 1-minute battery replacement time, 40-minute fast charging, a 7 kW home charging pile, and 2 kW slow charging. The GBRC crystal structure also includes an upgradeable capsule battery and a Livan super heat pump system with a wide temperature range of -30°C to 43°C.

Livan RL9 users can choose from various battery options, including a battery subscription service for 898 yuan ($128.70) for the 66.57kWh battery pack, installments for 898 yuan ($128.70), and a battery buyout plan. The buyout price for the 66.57kWh battery pack is 70,000 yuan ($10,030), while the 52.56kWh battery pack costs 60,000 yuan ($8,600).

The Livan RL9 SUV has a wheelbase of 2825 mm and a total length of 4845 mm. It features a distinctive through-type front LED light design and split headlights, as well as concave rib lines on the front and rear fenders and under the doors.

The interior of the RL9 has a three-row seat configuration, with either 6 or 7 seats depending on the trim level. The seats are arranged in a 2+2+2 format for the six-seater and a 2+2+3 format for the seven-seater, and there is a luggage space of up to 2360 liters. The interior design includes a blue and black color scheme, a 12.3-inch instrument panel, a 12.3-inch floating central control screen, and an 8-inch head-up display system. One notable design feature is the hidden air-conditioner outlet.

The RL9 is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces 150 kW and 310 Nm of torque. It has a ternary lithium battery with a capacity of 52.56/66.57 kWh and a battery life of 380/470 (CLTC). Additionally, thanks to the GBRC crystal architecture, the vehicle is able to support battery replacement in just 60 seconds. The battery can also be upgraded in the future, with options such as 80+ kWh/600+ km battery life and 100+ kWh/700+ km battery life available for all Livan models.
