Electric Era is expanding its footprint in the U.S. by partnering with major convenience store chains such as Love’s Travel Stops to deploy battery-backed Level 3 DC fast chargers. The company’s technology is designed to reduce installation and operating costs while helping retailers open new revenue streams from electric vehicle (EV) charging.

The battery-backed chargers developed by Electric Era can cut operating costs by up to 70% and reduce installation times compared to traditional grid-connected systems. The company has also supported customers in securing $41 million in government incentives through successful grant applications. With the reinstatement of National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) funding, some retailers can achieve a positive return on investment in less than two years from charging revenue alone.

Love’s Travel Stops has installed an Electric Era charging station at its new Buena Vista, Colorado location along U.S. Highway 24, a key connector between Denver and Colorado Springs. The deployment, supported by funding from the Colorado Energy Office’s Fast-Charging Plazas program, features a four-stall 200 kW setup compatible with both CCS1 and NACS connectors. The Buena Vista site is Love’s 38th EV charging location, adding to its network of more than 150 chargers across 15 states.

Ryan Erickson, Vice President of Love’s Alternative Energy, said the company is committed to expanding clean energy solutions. “We’re proud to bring this location online as we continue to bring more clean energy solutions to communities across Colorado,” he said.

Electric Era’s charging platform integrates with retailer systems to support loyalty programs and brand engagement, helping partners like Love’s increase store traffic and non-fuel revenue. Brittany Kaplan, Senior Manager of Enterprise Sales at Electric Era, said the company’s goal is to make EV charging both a sustainable and profitable addition to retail operations.

Founded by former SpaceX engineer Quincy Lee, Electric Era provides end-to-end project support through in-house engineering, permitting, and government relations teams. The company reports an 83% grant success rate for customer applications over the past two years. With $5 billion in NEVI funding reinstated, Electric Era expects more national fuel and convenience chains to pursue EV charging as part of their long-term infrastructure strategy.
