Maersk and Einride have just announced a partnership for electrification of heavy goods road transport in the US. With this partnership, Einride will provide Maersk with a total of 300 electric trucks between 2023 and 2025.
The electric trucks will be used in warehousing, distribution and transportation in North America. More than one million transports must be handled by Maersk without emissions over a five-year period.
Maersk itself will have access to 150 charging stations and connectivity services connected to the Saga Einride operating system.
Collaboration between a Danish and Swedish company marks Einride’s first major expansion in the US, following the launch of the company’s operations in New York City in November 2021.
The Einride connected electric truck will be assembled in the US according to pre-agreed specifications. The first batch were Class 8 trucks of the 3rd generation 8TT, manufactured by BYD in California.
Maersk Growth participated in Einride’s Series B funding round in May 2021, completing the partnership between Maersk and Einride. In total, Einride raised more than 110 million US dollars.
