Jehu Garcia recently bought the Rivian R1T. It’s clear he likes the electric truck he just got. It didn’t take long for Garcia to have covered a 1,000-mile road trip on the Rivian R1T.
He also points out that the truck has an “orange rind” that shows throughout his paint job. If you want to know more about the “orange peel” in the Rivian R1T, you can go to this link.
Apart from owning the Rivian R1T, Garcia also owns a Tesla model 3 and was eager to see up close the paintwork differences between the two electric vehicles.
Garcia was curious about the quality of Rivian and Tesla paints and finishes. Of course, this is to compare how the paint work by a new electric car maker is compared to Tesla, which is a pioneer in the electric vehicle industry.
In the video released by Garcia, it can be seen that the Model 3 also has a lot of orange peel, although the texture is different from the R1T. We can see the orange peel on the R1T if we look closely at the body.
Garcia then compared the paint quality to the Fiat and Subaru beside him. Both vehicles have almost the same paint quality.
The only vehicle Garcia has that doesn’t have a clear orange peel is his Volkswagen electric bus, but that bus doesn’t really count as it’s been repainted with flat paint.
Garcia went on to show off aftermarket paint jobs on other buses. Indeed, there are some paints that he admits are not up to standard, but the bus looks shiny and free of orange peel. The workers polish it up and make it look pretty good, which gives it an edge over other vehicles.
