Colorado Teardrops, an American camper trailer company, has just introduced its first specially designed trailer for electric vehicles, named The Boulder. This innovative trailer not only serves as a comfortable camping accommodation for up to four individuals, but also doubles as a charging station for electric vehicles. With a 75 kilowatt-hours battery pack integrated into its powder-coated steel frame, The Boulder can recharge the main battery of an EV while it’s parked.
According to the company’s website, The Boulder can also act as a “Powerwall on wheels,” providing energy not only to the EV, but also to the home. This feature makes it eligible for a federal tax credit of around $12,000 under the Inflation Reduction Act.

The 12-foot teardrop camper is made of aircraft-grade aluminum, and its interior cabin is equipped with hardwood and various 110-volt electrical outlets. It has a body length of 150 inches and an overall length of 195 inches, with a cabin width of 60 inches. The seating area can be converted into a queen-size bed and two bunk beds.
For those interested in purchasing The Boulder, it has a starting price of $67,000, with several optional upgrades available, including a 2,000-watt air conditioning unit for $3,250, a propane heater for $2,000, and a water tank with hand pump for $650. Although development is still underway, the company has already completed the first prototype for The Boulder and has two more electric vehicle-specific models in the works, The Golden and The Denver.
