French freight forwarder Ceva Logistics is adding 23 battery-electric trucks to its fleet as part of efforts to lower its carbon footprint, the company announced. The expansion builds on Ceva’s existing fleet of 518 electric trucks and vans.
The latest additions include 21 trucks with gross vehicle weights of 7.5, 16, and 19 tonnes, along with two tractor units. These vehicles will be deployed for collection and distribution services from eight Ceva sites across France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Commissioning began in late 2024 and will continue through the first half of 2025. While Ceva has not disclosed the vehicle manufacturers, a company press photo features an electric tractor unit from Volvo Trucks. The French Agency for the Environment and Energy Management (Ademe) has subsidized the 21 trucks operating in France.

“By strengthening the fleet for our ground operations with an additional 23 electric trucks, we are progressing in our journey towards more sustainable logistics,” said Cédric Chacon, a Ceva Logistics manager. “This investment illustrates one of the fundamental pillars of our CSR strategy, ‘Acting for the Planet,’ and demonstrates our desire to offer sustainable transport solutions to our customers.”
Ceva Logistics has prepared for the rollout by installing 85 new charging stations at sites in France, the Netherlands, and Belgium, bringing its total charging infrastructure to over 300 stations in France and 1,035 worldwide. The company had previously set a target of operating 1,450 electric commercial vehicles by the end of 2025, including 1,000 delivery vans, 300 trucks, and 150 tractor units. However, with the latest additions, Ceva’s electric fleet will total only 541 vehicles, raising questions about its ability to meet the original target.
