BYD’s sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao released interior images of its upcoming Tai 7 hybrid SUV on Weibo, as the model approaches its official launch in the fourth quarter.

The Tai 7 adopts a softer interior style compared with the rugged lines of the Bao 8 off-road SUV. It is equipped with a horizontal central display and a smaller instrument panel positioned in front of the steering wheel. Fang Cheng Bao said the vehicle will be offered in three color options — gray, blue, and orange.

Positioned as a hybrid SUV combining off-road capability with family usability, the Tai 7 is the brand’s first unibody design in the segment and the second model in the Tai series after the Tai 3. Production of the model began earlier this month, with the first batch rolling off the line on August 11.

The SUV measures 4,999 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width and 1,865 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. It will be fitted with BYD’s in-house “God’s Eye” smart driving system and will be offered in versions with and without LiDAR.

The long-range four-wheel-drive version includes a 35.6-kWh battery pack with a CLTC-rated range of up to 180 kilometers, while the standard-range two-wheel-drive variant features a 26.6-kWh pack delivering 135 kilometers of electric range. Fully fueled and charged, the Tai 7’s combined range exceeds 1,300 kilometers.

The model will also debut an in-house developed BYD tablet, first unveiled last week.

Fang Cheng Bao, launched in August 2023, now operates two product lines: the Bao series, focused on off-road vehicles, and the Tai series, aimed at family cars. In July, the brand sold 14,180 units, up 669.82% year-on-year, but down 24.99% from June. Sales included 8,513 Tai 3 units, 4,102 Bao 5 units, and 1,565 Bao 8 units.
