Chinese automaker BYD has unveiled the Yuan UP, expanding its Dynasty range of vehicles, featuring the distinctive Dragon Face design language.
In comparison to the Atto 3, the Yuan UP exhibits a slightly more rugged aesthetic, drawing parallels to the design approach seen in Jeep’s compact Avenger model. The unconventional appearance suggests potential popularity among a younger demographic.

Official specifications from China indicate that the Yuan UP measures 4,310 mm (170 inches) in length, 1,830 mm (72 inches) in width, and stands at a height of 1,675 mm (65.9 inches), with a 2,620 mm (103.1-inch) wheelbase. The front design showcases angular headlights incorporating LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), with the lower bumper featuring black accents and two small air inlets.
When viewed from the side, the Yuan UP bears a resemblance to the Mercedes-Benz GLB, evident in its short front and rear overhangs, roofline, thick D-pillars, and a small rear window. Noteworthy design elements include flush door handles, black fenders, and black rocker panels. The rear of the vehicle boasts an LED light bar, intricate signature taillights, and a silver diffuser.

Car News China reports that BYD will offer the SUV with a choice of electric motors: a 94 hp (70 kW) option or a more powerful 174 hp (130 kW) variant, mirroring the choices available for the BYD Dolphin model. Buyers can also choose from two battery packs, a 32 kWh pack, and a larger 45.1 kWh pack. The small SUV’s range is estimated to fall between 301 km (187 miles) and 401 km (249 miles), with anticipated starting prices around 100,000 yuan or $14,000.
