Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD will launch its Sea Lion 07 battery electric vehicle (BEV) on May 10, the first model in its new Sea Lion lineup, the company announced on Friday.
The launch event, which will also unveil BYD’s new e-Platform 3.0 Evo, is scheduled for 7 pm Beijing Time.
While details on the new e-Platform 3.0 Evo were not provided, it is speculated that the Sea Lion 07 will be based on this platform, an upgrade from the current e-Platform 3.0.
According to a previous regulatory filing, the Sea Lion 07 is a coupe SUV with dimensions of 4,830 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,930 mm.
The vehicle, first unveiled at the 2023 Guangzhou auto show, is the first model in the Sea Lion series and the first mid-size all-electric SUV in BYD’s Ocean range.
Offered in three versions, the single-motor options boast maximum powers of 170 kW and 230 kW, while the dual-motor version features a front motor with 160 kW and a rear motor with 230 kW.
Zhang Zhuo, general manager of BYD’s Ocean series sales division, stated that the Sea Lion 07 BEV will be priced between RMB 200,000 ($27,700) and RMB 260,000.
“We are excited to launch the Sea Lion 07, the first model in our new lineup, and continue expanding our Ocean array SUV model series,” Zhang said.
