BYD has commissioned a new car carrier with a capacity of 9,200 vehicles, further strengthening its global logistics network for new energy vehicle (NEV) exports.
The vessel, named BYD Shenzhen, was officially delivered in Yizheng, Jiangsu province. It becomes the fourth car carrier operated by the company and was constructed by a shipyard owned by China Merchants Group.

At 219.9 meters in length and 37.7 meters in beam, the ship has 16 decks and is currently the largest car carrier in operation globally in terms of loading capacity. It is equipped with LNG dual-fuel power systems and a range of efficiency and emissions-reducing technologies, including energy-saving components and drag-reducing anti-fouling coatings.
The commissioning of BYD Shenzhen is part of the automakerâs broader strategy to scale up its global delivery capabilities as NEV demand grows in overseas markets. In the first quarter of this year, BYDâs maritime fleet shipped more than 25,000 NEVs to international destinations.

The companyâs vehicles are now sold in over 100 countries and 400 cities, and the expansion of its logistics fleet is expected to support faster delivery times, reduced transportation cycles, and lower logistics costs.
BYD plans to continue expanding its shipping capacity with the upcoming deployment of additional vessels. The BYD Changsha and BYD Xiâan, each with 9,200-vehicle capacity, are nearing operational readiness. Other ships in BYDâs fleet include the BYD Hefei and BYD Changzhou, both of which carry up to 7,000 vehicles and began international service in late 2024 and early 2025.
