The BYD Atto 3 electric SUV has arrived in Australia with first customer deliveries set to take place in the coming weeks.

EVDirect, the local distributor for BYD Atto 3 is in Australia “to begin the purchase and delivery process”.

“Whilst others have been debating and waiting, EVDirect and BYD have been getting on with the job of building high quality affordable EVs for Australian families, and I’m proud to say the first truckloads of BYD Atto 3s are now rolling out across Brisbane and shortly thousands more across the country.” says EVDirect CEO Luke Todd.

EVDirect has received more than 4000 orders for the Atto 3 electric SUV since opening orders in February. EVDirect says it has access to production of up to 3000 cars per month from BYD’s China plant.

Prices for the Atto 3 start at $44,381 plus on-road fees – or from $44,990 drive-away. Orders placed today, customers will receive them before the end of the year.

The Atto 3 electric SUV that arrived was the Extended Range model which accounts for more than 90 per cent of orders in Australia. The cheaper Atto 3 Standard Range is expected to arrive in Australia later this year.

In addition to the Atto 3, EVDirect will carry two more BYD models – the Dolphin electric hatchback, and the Seal electric sedan with orders opening before the end of 2022 and deliveries starting in 2023.

BYD cars will be sold and serviced in Australia through a network of 12 showrooms located throughout the state.
