The Electra E7 is a five-seat mid-size SUV built on Buick’s Xiao Yao Super Architecture, which the brand unveiled last year to underpin a new generation of electrified models. The vehicle recently appeared in a regulatory catalogue published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, disclosing key specifications ahead of launch.

According to the filing, the Electra E7 measures 4,850 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width and 1,676 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. The model is powered by Buick’s Zhenlong plug-in hybrid system, combining a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a single electric motor. The engine delivers a maximum output of 115 kilowatts, while the electric motor produces 165 kW.

Buick said the Electra E7 uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and offers an electric-only driving range of more than 210 kilometres under China’s CLTC test cycle. With a full fuel tank and a fully charged battery, the combined driving range exceeds 1,600 kilometres, according to a company statement dated Jan. 11.

On the technology side, the SUV is equipped with a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor and an advanced driver assistance system based on technology from Chinese autonomous driving firm Momenta. Interior and cockpit functions are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8775P chip. The model also features a continuously variable damping suspension system designed to anticipate road conditions and adjust in real time.
