Belgian postal operator Bpost has ordered 500 additional electric delivery vans, aiming to expand its electric fleet to 3,146 vehicles by the autumn of 2025, as part of its ongoing effort to achieve fully emission-free parcel deliveries by 2030.
The company did not disclose the manufacturer for the latest order. However, press images released by Bpost show electric vans from Stellantis Group brands, including the Peugeot E-Partner and Opel Combo Electric. Renault was the supplier of the company’s initial electric van fleet, but it remains unconfirmed whether either automaker is involved in the current procurement.
The new vehicles are expected to be operational by autumn, ahead of the peak parcel delivery season in November and December, when volumes can reach up to 800,000 parcels daily. Bpost doubled its electric delivery fleet to 2,000 vehicles in June 2024 and has continued to scale since.
“This makes bpost’s fleet not only the largest operational fleet in Belgium, but also the greenest,” the company said in a statement.
Bpost has also committed to greening its inter-hub transport operations. The company recently introduced a second electric truck, which will operate between its major sorting centers in Antwerp, Liège, and Charleroi. In addition to electric vans, the company’s emission-free fleet includes 2,685 electric bicycles and 485 e-bike trailers.
Currently, more than 25% of parcels delivered in Belgium are transported emission-free, Bpost said, as it pushes toward its 2030 goal of fully sustainable parcel delivery across the country.
