Tata Motors, an Indian automaker, has just launched its Avinya as an electric vehicle that demonstrates the company’s electrification vision. The name “Avinya” comes from Sanskrit meaning “innovation,” which seems to reflect the electrification spirit of the Indian manufacturer. Serbia signed a 190 million euro deal with Stellantis to manufacture electric vehicles in Kragujevac, Serbia. According to Stellantis, a new electric compact model will begin production in Kragujevac from mid-2024, replacing the Fiat 500L minivan. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said a new era had begun and the production of electric vehicles should start in early 2024. “A new era begins today,” said Aleksandar Vucic Fiat Chrysler (Part of Stellantis) manufactures motor vehicles at the Kragujevac plant. When their competitors have introduced electric-powered pickup trucks, RAM is considered too late to enter this market. One thing is for sure, RAM plans to come with its 1500 EV electric pickup which will go into production in 2024. Skoda has just restarted production of the all-electric Enyaq iV at its main plant in Mladá Boleslav. Previously, production of the all-electric Enyaq iV had stopped for several weeks due to supply chain bottlenecks. The largest automotive manufacturer from the United States (US), Ford has confirmed that it will launch a new generation of full-electric vans on May 9. Lucid has just announced that it has signed an agreement with the government of Saudi Arabia for the purchase of up to 100,000 electric vehicles over the next 10 years. Under the agreement, the Saudi Arabian government committed to purchase 50,000 electric vehicles from Lucid, with the option to purchase an additional 50,000 vehicles over a ten-year period. Following the announcement, Lucid’s stock was up 5.4 percent in extended trading. Nissan is working on a new driver assist technology that will help improve collision avoidance features for future autonomous vehicles. Technologies under development utilize highly accurate real-time information about the vehicle’s surroundings to enhance these collision avoidance features and help reduce traffic accidents. Nicknamed The First Edition, this special edition was launched as the opening edition of the latest generation BMW 7 Series sold in Japan. Armstrong Electric Vehicles recently presented their first electric motor, the EB1 which is powered by a 6000W brushless DC engine. With this engine the power that can be generated reaches a top speed of 110 kilometers per hour (or about 68 mph). In addition, this motorbike is also claimed to be able to go from zero to 60 kilometers in just 3.5 seconds, and weighs only 150 pounds. Swedish commercial vehicle manufacturer Scania has signed a cooperation agreement with German recycling company ALBA W&H Smart City. Under the agreement, Scania will supply approximately 15 units of Scania L230 electric trucks to the ALBA W&H Smart City branch of the company in Singapore.
