British-headquartered multinational mining company Anglo American has officially unveiled the prototype for the world’s largest hydrogen-powered mine haul truck. This mining truck is designed to operate under everyday mining conditions at the PGM Mogalakwena mine in northeastern South Africa which is also the world’s largest open-pit platinum group metal mine. With the launch of this eco-friendly mining truck, Anglo American intends to replace its 40 conventional truck fleet which claims to use about one million liters of diesel each year. Tata Motors has just launched their Ace EV electric vehicle. This electric vehicle is an electric version of the Tata Ace that uses an internal combustion engine. This electric commercial car has overall dimensions of 3,800 mm in length, 1,500 mm in width, 2635 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,100 mm and a grond clearance of 160 mm. The Tata Ace EV has the same design as the internal combustion version. DS Automobiles’ latest concept car illustrates that future cars don’t need conventional brakes. Sweden’s leading truck manufacturer, Volvo Trucks, has now officially opened orders for its line of heavy-duty electric trucks consisting of the Volvo FH, Volvo FM and Volvo FMX. The Volvo FH Electric and FM Electric electric trucks are targeted by Volvo Trucks as versatile electric haulers for local (short-haul) transport tasks. The 19-ton Scania electric truck has entered service in Norway’s Svalbard area, which is one of the northernmost inhabited arctic regions in the world. Nikola Corporation announced that it has started production of the Nikola Tre BEV truck and has started the delivery phase to consumers. At the Coolidge, Arizona, United States (US) factory, Nikola has produced 2,500 trucks. Investments in infrastructure for the production of electric cars are indeed rife by several global manufacturers today. Most recently, there is Stellantis NV which will increase production of electric vehicles at the Windsor and Brampton factories.
