Nio said it has delivered its 40,000th third-generation ES8 sport utility vehicle, reaching its annual delivery target for the model just over three months after launch. Chinese electric vehicle maker Leapmotor expects to post its first full-year profit this year, supported by strong vehicle sales and improved financial performance over recent quarters, its founder and chief executive said. Chinese electric vehicle maker Zeekr is developing a new sport utility vehicle known as the Zeekr 9S, internally codenamed “Orca,” according to a report by local automotive media outlet Auto Home. The model is positioned as a more performance-oriented alternative to the Zeekr 9X and could make its debut as early as January 2026, with a market launch expected by the end of the first quarter, the report said. Chinese automaker Dongfeng Motor and technology group Huawei said their jointly developed automotive brand Yijing has produced its first pre-production prototype, marking a key step toward mass production planned for next year. Nio has introduced limited-edition versions of its ET5 electric sedan and ET5 Touring wagon as part of efforts to stimulate demand for its sedan lineup. Ford Motor said it will launch the electric version of its Bronco sport utility vehicle in China on Dec. 19, roughly a month after opening pre-sales, as the automaker continues to expand its electrified offerings in the world’s largest auto market. Volkswagen’s first model built on its China Electrical Architecture (CEA) platform, the ID.UNYX 07, is set to enter series production at the end of this year, underscoring the German automaker’s push to localise development and speed up product cycles in its largest market. Geely Auto Group on Thursday inaugurated what it said is the world’s largest automotive safety testing centre, as the Chinese carmaker steps up investment in safety technologies for intelligent and electrified vehicles. Aulton New Energy Co Ltd, a Chinese provider of third-party battery swap solutions, has filed for an initial public offering in Hong Kong, seeking to raise funds to expand investment in battery swapping and related technologies, according to a Hong Kong Stock Exchange filing. CMB International is acting as the sole sponsor for the IPO. Aulton did not disclose the number of shares to be offered or the size of the fundraising.
