BMW has just announced the iX1 with electric powertrain which is the new third generation X1 small SUV. Under the official name BMW iX1 xDrive 30, this car uses two electric motors with 313 horsepower and 364 pound-feet (494 Nm) of torque. BMW has not disclosed the battery capacity, but claims the iX1 xDrive 30 has a range of 257 – 272 miles (413 – 438 km). Acceleration from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 5.7 seconds. The SSC Tuatara is the fastest officially recognized production car in the world at 282.9 mph (455 km/h). But the Tuatara itself is likely much faster, and it could go even higher if an electrified all-wheel-drive version joins in. This car is in the works, it was reported. Squad Mobility, a Dutch startup, has just launched a mini electric vehicle called the “Solar City Car”. The vehicle with the “quadricycle” type is solar powered which is projected to compete with the Citroën Ami. The vehicle has solar panels and is already available for pre-order after three years of development. Squad Mobility, a startup company founded by Robert Hoevers and Chris Klok in 2019 with a focus on sustainable mobility. From 1 July 2022, Fiat will only sell new energy vehicles ranging from hybrids to fully electric in the UK. With this announcement, Fiat cars with internal combustion engines will not be available at UK dealers starting July 2022. By 2021, more than 60% of the Fiat line-up will be electrified. Bank of America and Electrify America announced plans for a collaboration between the two that will double the number of financial centers equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles by the end of 2023. Bank of America and Electrify America began collaborating in 2019. There are currently 172 Electrify America individual EV chargers installed in 46 financial centers. In the first three months of this year’s report, Xpeng has delivered 34,561 electric vehicles to consumers. This number is an increase of 159 percent compared to the same quarter last year. Ford has recalled the 464 Mustang Mach-E due to a software issue that could cause Unintended acceleration. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says Unintended acceleration, Unintended deceleration, and/or loss of power increase the potential for an accident. NHTSA says safety-related software is not working properly. This makes the software potentially “ignore” the Unintended acceleration or deceleration of the EV. Hyundai Motor Group (Hyundai Motor Co and Kia Corp) said it plans to invest $5.54 billion in the construction of electric vehicle production and battery manufacturing facilities in the United States. The production facility will be located in Georgia and will begin construction in early 2023.
