The highly anticipated all-electric Audi Q6 e-tron has taken a step closer to production, as Audi recently offered a preview of the vehicle without its camouflage coverings. This comes shortly after select media representatives had the chance to test out the prototype version of the SUV.
From a visual perspective, the Audi Q6 e-tron surprises with a slightly softer design than initially anticipated. The front fascia is dominated by thin LED headlights and a large faux grille, which is currently finished in white on the prototypes. Additionally, the vehicle boasts an aggressive front bumper, while the rear features eye-catching LED taillights, a full-width LED light bar, and a body-colored diffuser. The prototypes currently sit on striking all-white wheels, though it’s uncertain if these will make it to the production model. It’s worth noting that Audi intends to offer the Q6 e-tron in standard SUV and Coupe SUV versions, with the prototypes representing the former.
Underneath its sleek exterior, the Audi Q6 e-tron is built on the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, a joint development by Audi and Porsche. The PPE architecture incorporates an 800-volt system, enabling rapid charging speeds of up to 270 kW. This means the vehicle’s battery can be charged from 10 to 80% in less than 30 minutes. Audi plans to offer both standard Q6 and sporty SQ6 versions of the electric SUV.
Powering both models is a 100 kWh battery pack. The standard Q6 e-tron will be equipped with two electric motors, producing around 375 hp, with a power boost that temporarily increases the output to 396 hp. Audi is confident that the standard model can achieve an impressive 373-mile (600 km) range on the WLTP cycle. On the other hand, the flagship SQ6 is projected to deliver 483 hp, which can be further boosted to 510 hp in its most dynamic mode. This allows the SQ6 to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 4.5 seconds.
As the Audi Q6 e-tron inches closer to its production phase, automobile enthusiasts and environmentally conscious drivers alike eagerly await its official launch. With its distinctive design, cutting-edge PPE architecture, and outstanding performance capabilities, the Q6 e-tron is poised to make a significant impact in the rapidly evolving electric SUV market.
