Since its launch in 1991, the Nissan Serena has always been a vehicle closely related as an MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) that fits the needs of families thanks to its spacious cabin, convenient utilities and advanced technology.
In 2022, the Japanese manufacturer has just introduced the latest generation of the Nissan Serena, which this time doesn’t only come in an MPV model with an internal combustion engine but comes with an e-Power or hybrid engine variant.
“We have planned and developed the new Serena so that the whole family can spend their precious time together, having fun,” said Nissan Executive Vice President Asako Hoshino quoting its official website on Tuesday (29/11/2022).
The 6th generation Serena now carries a new design language. It can be seen that the exterior design of the latest Serena has been further refined to evoke a dynamic and powerful vehicle performance.
The front fascia of the new Serena now looks even more stylish thanks to the LED lights which are integrated with the V-motion grille which makes it further emphasize the futuristic-style MPV aura embedded in both the Luxion and Highway Star variants.
Although it still maintains its distinctive boxy shape, the dimensions of the new Nissan Serena have slightly increased significantly from the previous generation with a length of 4,765 mm, width of 1,715 mm, height of 1,885 mm and a wheelbase of up to 2,870 mm.
This car, which is known for its versatility, has also experienced an increase in the cabin area, where the driver’s legroom is now 120 mm more spacious than its predecessor. Even so, the entire new Serena cabin still maintains its luxurious and elegant style.
This can be seen from the dashboard which is quite modern with the wheelhouse (cockpit) which is pampered with a touch of advanced digital technology. In fact, the transmission operation is now only using a button that is located together on the climate control console in the middle.
Thanks to the wider front windshield, the positioning of the display monitor is now more optimal for the driver. Moreover, the all-new seat design dampens the movement of passengers and the steering wheel which is very stiff further enhances driving stability.
In the second row, the layout of the passenger seats has now been changed in such a way as to make it even more spacious. That is, this 7-seater MPV is sufficient to accommodate more passengers, up to 8 people or become 8-seater.
Each passenger has access to smartphone storage, cupholders, USB ports and onboard Wi-Fi and has a folding board compartment that can accommodate a 500 ml cardboard carton.
Not to forget, the new Serena sophistication also has an optional hands-free operated sliding door and double tailgate for easy loading and unloading in tight spaces. Hybrid models can also be equipped with an optional 100v AC (1,500 Watt) outlet.
Speaking of specifications, the 6th generation Nissan Serena e-Power or hybrid is armed with a 3-cylinder engine with a capacity of 1,400 cc (1.4L) which is integrated with an electric motor capable of producing power up to 161 hp and 315 Nm of torque with front-wheel drive (FWD) ).
Meanwhile, in the petrol engine variant, the new Serena is equipped with a MR20DD 4-cylinder engine with a capacity of 2,000 cc (2.0L) which is claimed to be capable of producing 148 hp of power and up to 200 Nm of torque which is transferred by the CVT transmission to the FWD and 4WD drives.
The latest Nissan Serena safety features are now equipped with the ProPilot 2.0 Suite ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) feature which is claimed to enable driving without touching the steering wheel on the highway and parking remotely with the ability to remember parking spaces.
In addition, specifically for the type, Luxion, this MPV also has ProPILOT Remote Park which is a steering assist with forward collision avoidance that supports steering when avoiding obstacles in front of the vehicle. This technology is also a first for Nissan.
