Foxconn Technology Group, a prominent Chinese contract electronics manufacturer recognized as a key supplier of iPhones, introduced two new electric vehicle models yesterday, further expanding its rapidly growing automotive portfolio. The North American version of its sports utility vehicle, the Model C, designed specifically for a U.S. partner, is set to begin mass production at the end of next year.

The Model D, a sizable multi-purpose SUV measuring 5.1 meters in length with a wheelbase of 3.2 meters, was showcased at Foxconn’s recent Technology Day event. The vehicle is manufactured by Foxtron Vehicle Technologies, Foxconn’s joint venture with Yulong Motor, and was developed in collaboration with the renowned Italian design firm Pininfarina.

In addition to the SUVs, Foxconn unveiled the Model U, a medium-sized electric bus designed to navigate narrow urban streets and remote areas. This bus features advanced self-driving capabilities, including an advanced driver assistance system, and offers a maximum range of 275 kilometers when fully loaded with 20 passengers.

Chairman Young Liu stated, “Foxconn will roll out more new electric vehicles this year to enrich our amazing EV portfolio.” The Taipei-based company currently markets several models, including the sedan Model E, electric bus Model T, sedan Model B, pickup Model V, and electric truck Model N.

Liu emphasized the advancements in Foxconn’s automotive capabilities, noting, “These autos demonstrate the breadth and maturity of Foxconn in the automotive field. The electric cars we launch with our B2B customers can stand up to the tests of durability, safety, and reliability.”

General Manager Li Pingyan highlighted the company’s customizable vehicle offerings, stating, “Foxconn provides partners with customizable vehicles, allowing customers to choose their favorite reference designs to customize their cars. This contract design and manufacturing service model is proving to be very successful.”

As a leading global electronics manufacturer, Foxconn has leveraged its extensive manufacturing capabilities accumulated over many years. The company plans to apply these technologies to the electric vehicle sector and new energy fields, aiming to enhance clean energy supply chain localization and vertical integration with industry leaders in the future.
