Geely unit London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) has introduced an all-electric Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) in China, targeting a niche market segment. The MPV, named the L380, was officially launched at an event yesterday. The name draws inspiration from the Airbus A380, emphasizing the vehicle’s spacious interior.

LEVC, renowned for manufacturing London’s iconic black cabs, is part of Geely’s portfolio, which also includes brands like Lotus, Zeekr, Volvo, and Polestar.

The L380 is the first model built on LEVC’s Space Oriented Architecture (SOA) and comes in four variants: Air, Pro, Max, and Ultra, with starting prices of RMB 379,900 ($52,300), RMB 439,900, RMB 479,900, and RMB 479,900, respectively.

The L380 measures 5,316 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,940 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,185 mm. The two lower-priced versions are single-motor models, while the other two are dual-motor models. The Max variant is an 8-seater, whereas the others are 6-seaters.

The L380 offers three battery pack options, with capacities of 100 kWh, 116 kWh, and 140 kWh. The four variants have a CLTC range of 570 km, 675 km, 785 km, and 805 km, respectively.

LEVC is providing a limited-time discount for the model, offering a RMB 30,000 reduction for customers who purchase any variant before July 31, but only for the first 3,000 units. Additionally, LEVC is offering benefits worth tens of thousands of RMB for the model.

LEVC, founded in 1908, was partially acquired by Geely in 2006 with a 20 percent stake, and fully acquired in 2013. Last December, LEVC previewed the MPV on Chinese social media, highlighting the model’s codename L380 and comparing it to the Airbus A380 to emphasize its large interior space.
