Denza, the premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand by BYD, has officially introduced its latest model, the Denza Z9GT, at the Beijing auto show. Positioned as the luxury flagship sedan, the Z9GT features a distinctive rear end design, setting it apart from traditional sedans.
The Z9GT is the inaugural model in Denza’s Z-series, which will primarily consist of sedans, with “GT” standing for Grand Tourer. Denza’s rebranding initiative includes the D9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) as the first model, along with the N7 and N8 SUVs (sport utility vehicle) as part of the N-series.
Sporting the Solar Diadem design language at the front, the Z9GT integrates LiDAR technology below the license plate frame, emphasizing its sporty character with a rearward center of gravity.
Measuring 5,180 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width, and 1,500/1,480 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm, the Z9GT offers a spacious and luxurious interior.
The model is powered by BYD’s e3 technology, featuring three electric motors with peak powers of 230 kW, 240 kW, and 240 kW respectively, delivering a total power output of nearly 1,000 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in less than three seconds.
The e3 technology enables the Z9GT to complete a moose test at speeds of up to 85 kilometers per hour, showcasing its agility and safety features.
Denza has announced plans to hold a technology launch event for the Z9GT in May, with the official launch scheduled for the end of the year.
Founded in 2010 as a joint venture between BYD and Daimler, with each holding a 50 percent stake at the time, Denza saw BYD increase its stake to 90 percent in 2022, following the rebranding of the Daimler brand to Mercedes-Benz in February 2022.
