Volvo Cars has announced a strategic collaboration with charging network operator Evergo. The joint effort aims to deploy over 3,000 EV charging points across Mexico by 2025, a move that will not only facilitate EV adoption within the country but also enhance connectivity along Mexico’s prominent tourist routes, extending into neighboring nations.
Under the newly inked agreement, Evergo and Volvo Cars have set ambitious targets. Over the next three years, they plan to install a total of 2,295 charging stations, with 803 of them being fast chargers. These charging stations will span a distance of 2,213 kilometers, strategically positioned along key tourist routes, starting from the corridor between Puebla and San Luis Potosí. By the close of 2024, the expansion plan includes routes connecting major cities, such as Mexico City to Acapulco, Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta, Tijuana to Ensenada, Mérida to Cancún, and Monterrey to McAllen.

Raymundo Cavazos, General Director of Volvo Car Mexico, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Each of the actions we implement are firm steps that help us connect cities.”
Daniel López, Commercial Director of Evergo México, added, “This alliance takes us towards an increasingly promising horizon in terms of electric mobility in Mexico.”
The partnership between Evergo and Volvo Cars is not limited to Mexico alone. It extends its reach into other Latin American countries, including Jamaica, Panama, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay.
Interestingly, Volvo Cars’ electric vehicle customers in Mexico will also benefit from the availability of Tesla Superchargers. This collaboration, initiated in June 2023, grants Volvo car owners access to Tesla Superchargers across North America, including Mexico. Initially, an adapter will be required until 2024, after which Volvo EVs will come equipped with NACS charge ports for seamless compatibility.

As a result of these collaborative efforts, Volvo customers in Mexico can expect access to an extensive network of over 3,000 charging points by 2025, including 870 fast chargers, marking a significant step towards the expansion of electric mobility infrastructure in the region.
