NIO enters partnership with AMD to supply chips for speed up AI deep learning training

AMD has entered into a partnership with NIO to supply chips to the Chinese electric vehicle maker.

Under the partnership, NIO will deploy AMD’s EPYC processors in the HPC platform, which is expected to accelerate AI deep learning training.

AMD chips are also expected to shorten the product development cycle, AMD said in a video posted on Weibo.

AMD’s chips have been confirmed to be used only for NIO vehicle development, not in mass production vehicles.

NIO uses Qualcomm chips in the smart cockpits of their electric vehicles, and the smart drive chips come from Mobileye and Nvidia.

Nio recently launched bidirectional charger that allows it to be used to charge vehicles and other devices.
