Tesla’s much-anticipated Cybertruck could potentially launch with a battery pack that offers a range of 350 miles (563 kilometers), according to Bearded Tesla, a Twitter user who claims to have had confidential conversations with three informed sources. If this rumor holds true, it would mean that the initial range of 620 miles (998 km) promised at the Cybertruck’s unveiling in 2019 would not be met. The projected range would also fall short of the Chevrolet Silverado EV’s 450-mile (724 km) range, but align with the dual-motor Rivian R1T.
The rumored 350-mile variant of the Cybertruck would outperform the Ford F-150 Lightning, which has a maximum range of 320 miles (515 km) when equipped with the Extended-Range pack. However, the recently improved GMC Hummer EV 3X pickup now boasts a range of 381 miles (613 km) for its 2024 model year, with production expected later this year, although an exact date has not been provided by the American automaker.
Based on confidential conversations with 3 people, I believe we will be seeing only the 350 mile Cybertruck. https://t.co/WvOtVMrocL

Tesla’s all-electric pickup entered production last week, with the Gigafactory Texas team commemorating the occasion with a photo alongside the vehicle. This milestone comes almost four years after the Cybertruck was initially unveiled as a prototype in November 2019.
At that time, Tesla’s website listed four powertrain options for the Cybertruck:
- Single motor rear-wheel drive with a range of 250 miles (402 km)
- Dual motor all-wheel drive with a range of 300 miles (483 km)
- Tri motor AWD with a range of 500 miles (804 km)
- Quad motor AWD with a range of 620 miles (998 km)
However, in 2021, Tesla removed all pricing and specifications from its website, leaving uncertainty regarding the actual cost of the Cybertruck, which is expected to go on sale later this year, possibly in September. Given Chevrolet’s decision to discontinue the $40,000 variant of the Silverado EV, Tesla may follow suit and potentially increase the price of the Cybertruck from its original plans.
