Polestar officially displays the Polestar 5 prototype electric car technology at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2022 (23-26/6).
In its dynamic debut, Polestar spread the charm of the Polestar 5 prototype by taking it on a Goodwood Hillclimb.
“The Polestar 5 is shaping up to be an astonishing four-door GT car just like a Polestar car,” said Pete Allen, Head of Polestar UK R&D.
“The platform combines the essence of a low-volume performance car with modern chassis technology that is light in weight and rigid,” Allen added.
Interestingly, at the same time with the debut at Goodwood, Polestar also revealed that the Polestar 5 will have the latest electric drive technology.
The Polestar 5’s electric drive technology comprises an 800-volt electrical architecture and a new, more ferocious rear electric motor. Polestar said the drive technology is targeted to have a power output of 650 kW or 884 hp and 900 Nm of torque.
Of course, when compared to its competitors, this power target is still lower than the Lucid Air or Tesla Model S Plaid.
“The new drive we are working on will set a new benchmark for our high-performance cars,” said Jorg Brandscheid, Polestar Chief Technology Officer.
Unfortunately Polestar has not leaked more detailed information about the battery or performance of the Polestar 5 later. Polestar 5 is prepared to be an electric car, the latest four-door coupe sedan based on the Polestar Precept.
At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, a prototype Polestar 5 appeared wearing gray and white camouflage with the words “Polestar 5 From concept car to Goodwood.”
Polestar plans to release Polestar 5 in 2024 after Polestar 3 and Polestar 4.
