Denza, BYD’s premium automotive brand, has opened reservations for its redesigned N8 electric SUV ahead of an official launch scheduled for November. The five-seat model introduces BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging technology, with a maximum claimed electric driving range of 1,003 kilometers (623 miles).
Reservations opened on Monday, following the timeline announced by Denza on October 22. The company has not disclosed pricing but is offering customers who pay a 2,000-yuan deposit a 5,000-yuan option credit.
Five-Seat Layout and Updated Cabin
The new Denza N8 measures 5,150 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,820 mm tall, with a 3,075 mm wheelbase. It is 50 mm shorter than the six-seat N8L, while retaining the same width, height and wheelbase.
Its five-seat configuration distinguishes it from the N8L. The cabin includes two zero-gravity seats in each row, sliding rear seats and a standard luggage capacity of 1,046 liters.
Interior technology includes a 1.1-meter-wide panoramic head-up display and a 30-inch central touchscreen. The head-up display presents driving information such as speed and navigation, while the central screen supports entertainment and multitasking functions.
Multiple Powertrain Configurations
Denza will offer the N8 in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. The single-motor rear-wheel-drive versions deliver maximum outputs of 320 kW (429 hp) and 370 kW, respectively.
The top tri-motor all-wheel-drive variant uses Denza’s e3 technology platform, combining one front motor with two rear motors for a maximum output of 890 kW. Additional functions include compass turns and an intelligent crawl mode.
The SUV also features BYD’s God’s Eye 5.0 driver-assistance system, DiSus-A intelligent air suspension and rear-wheel steering, bringing together driving assistance and chassis technologies.
Battery Options and Driving Range
Previous regulatory filings list battery capacities of 105.792 kWh and 130.15 kWh for the N8. The maximum claimed electric range is 1,003 km, although the figure varies by configuration and testing conditions.
The second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging technology are central to the model’s launch positioning. Denza has not yet disclosed the full charging specifications or detailed range figures for each version.
A plug-in hybrid variant may also join the lineup in the future, although Denza did not announce one alongside the all-electric model.
N8 Returns With a Different Market Position
The N8 nameplate originally debuted in August 2023 with six-seat and seven-seat plug-in hybrid versions. Those models were discontinued less than a year later following weak sales.
Denza subsequently introduced the redesigned six-seat N8L in October 2025 and added an all-electric version in September 2026.
The new five-seat N8 broadens the range by offering a different cabin layout and an all-electric powertrain. Its market reception will become clearer following the November launch, when pricing and further specifications are expected to establish how it compares with other large electric SUVs.
