Aito, the automotive brand jointly developed by Huawei and Seres, plans to partner with Bosch on intelligent systems for its overseas vehicles, moving away from Huawei’s technology for international markets, 36Kr reported.
The overseas versions of the Aito M6, M7, M8 and M9 are expected to use Bosch systems covering advanced driver assistance, smart cockpits and chassis technologies. Development work has reportedly begun, with mass production of highway navigation-on-autopilot functions tentatively scheduled for September 2027.
The reported arrangement resembles Huawei’s Huawei Inside model, under which Huawei supplies integrated technology while automakers retain control of their vehicle brands and products.
Aito Targets Europe in 2027
At the Paris Motor Show 2026 on October 12, Seres vice president Kang Bo announced plans to enter Europe in autumn 2027 with four SUVs: the Aito 9, 8, 7 and 6, corresponding to the Chinese-market M9, M8, M7 and M6.
Aito previously said it was working with partners to localise driving and parking assistance functions but did not identify those partners. Kang also said the company was advancing regulatory certification and local operations.
Bosch’s familiarity with international regulations and markets could support Aito’s expansion. According to 36Kr, the project would also mark the first time Bosch deploys its full suite of intelligent solutions in a vehicle.
Beyond Europe, Aito may target the Middle East. The brand signed a cooperation agreement with a UAE dealer in February to support local sales and after-sales services.
Huawei Adjusts Its Overseas Cooperation Model
The reported Bosch partnership comes as Huawei changes its relationship with Seres. In September, the companies said Seres would take the lead on Aito’s product, marketing, retail and service systems in China, with Huawei continuing to provide support. They signed a new five-year agreement on September 30.
Seres has also reportedly reorganised its overseas business unit under the Aito business group. However, Seres denied a 36Kr report that the previous organisational structure had created obstacles for overseas model development and marketing.
Luxeed Also Plans International Expansion
Luxeed, the brand jointly developed by Huawei and Chery, is also preparing to enter overseas markets, according to 36Kr.
The report said Luxeed plans to target the Middle East first, followed by Southeast Asia and Europe. Its overseas vehicles are expected to use Chery’s electronic architecture, Falcon intelligent driving system and Lingxi smart cockpit rather than Huawei’s domestic-market solutions.
The Luxeed V9 is reportedly expected to lead the overseas rollout, while the R7 faces a slower development timeline because of regulatory requirements affecting certain components.
The expansion plans come amid pressure in China’s domestic automotive market. Data from the China Passenger Car Association cited in the report showed that vehicle retail sales had declined year on year in every month so far in 2026, with September sales down 28% from a year earlier.
