Mercedes-Benz is busy investing heavily in its newest model. Where, the German car manufacturer introduced the Vision AMG concept car which depicts a futuristic high-performance electric sedan.
The study is based on the AMG.EA architecture specifically for the all-electric AMG models currently under development with the first production cars arriving on the market in 2025.
“The AMG vision shows the spectacular style of what electrification looks like at Mercedes-AMG that puts forward the factory aesthetic,” said Philipp Schiemer, CEO of Mercedes-AMG.
The concept car features four pillarless doors and a hatchback style at the rear. To make it a proper grand tourer, the brake lights and exhaust can actually be strengthened in appearance.
In terms of dimensions, the Vision AMG is 5,100mm long, slightly longer than the Mercedes-AMG GT 4Matic 4-Door and 147mm longer than the Porsche Taycan. Size is important as it will allow ample cabin space and a sizable battery pack to be placed under the floor, between the axles while still sitting much lower than the EQS.
The low ride height gives the Vision AMG some aerodynamic advantages. The silver color is inspired by the Mercedes Formula 1 car. Meanwhile, the 22-inch rims with aero cladding, are vaguely reminiscent of those seen on Project One.
Mercedes itself has not revealed the mileage for the Vision AMG. However, the new AMG.EA platform, high-performance high-voltage battery and drive technology are being co-developed with YASA, a company recently purchased by Mercedes that has been working on axial flux motors, which offer up to 30 percent more torque density than radial motors. conventional.
After Vision AMG, the manufacturer said it would build more vehicles on AMG.EA.
“We are not developing a new platform for just one model,” Robert Lešnik, Mercedes-Benz Head of Exterior Design.
