Foxtron has unveiled the Cavira electric SUV, marking a significant step in the company’s transition from contract manufacturing to selling vehicles under its own brand.
The new battery-electric model will debut in Taiwan before expanding to Australia and New Zealand later this year, with additional international markets planned in the future.
Founded in 2020 by Foxconn and Taiwan-based Yulon Motor, Foxtron was originally established to develop electric vehicle platforms and manufacturing solutions for global automakers. The Cavira now becomes the company’s second production vehicle sold under the Foxtron brand.
Mid-Size SUV Positioned for Global Markets
The Cavira enters the market as a mid-size electric SUV and will compete in a segment that includes models such as the Tesla Model Y.
Measuring 4.7 metres in length with a 2.92-metre wheelbase, the vehicle adopts a more conventional SUV design compared with the coupe-inspired styling seen in some rival electric crossovers.
Foxtron will offer two versions at launch, both powered by an 82.7kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack.
The rear-wheel-drive Emerge variant delivers 186kW of power and offers a claimed driving range of up to 578 kilometres.
The higher-performance Pioneer model features dual-motor all-wheel drive, producing a combined 349kW. Foxtron said the vehicle can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds and offers a driving range of up to 538 kilometres.
Both versions support DC fast charging at up to 175kW, allowing battery replenishment from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes under suitable charging conditions.
Home-Inspired Interior Design
Foxtron said the Cavira was developed around the concept of transforming electric vehicles into extensions of the home.
“We are convinced that the electric vehicles of the future will not only serve as a means of transport but also as an extension of the home,” said Li Bingyan, chief executive officer of Foxtron.
“Foxtron’s brand philosophy, based on technology, trust and mobility as added value, aims to create this value and develop products that customers can rely on — always with innovative technology as the foundation.”
The interior features a 15.6-inch portrait-oriented central touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster and physical toggle switches for key vehicle functions.
Additional features include ventilated front seats, a 12-speaker audio system, an integrated fragrance system and vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, allowing the battery to power external electrical devices.
Expansion Beyond Contract Manufacturing
The Cavira reflects a broader strategic shift for Foxtron.
Since introducing several electric vehicle concepts in 2021, the company had largely focused on showcasing its technology platforms to attract manufacturing contracts from established automotive brands.
Progress in that area has accelerated recently. In 2025, Foxtron secured its first major electric vehicle collaboration with Mitsubishi and later announced a partnership with Fuso, a subsidiary of Daimler Truck, for electric bus development.
The Cavira itself is based on the company’s Model C concept first revealed in 2021, although the production version has been updated with new technologies and features.
A related version of the vehicle was previously sold in Taiwan under Yulon Motor’s Luxgen brand as the Luxgen n⁷.
Market Launch Plans
Foxtron has already opened pre-orders for the Cavira in Taiwan, with official sales scheduled to begin on 17 June 2026.
The company has established 18 showrooms across Taiwan to support its growing retail network.
Following the domestic launch, the Cavira is expected to enter Australia and New Zealand during the second half of 2026, with further international expansion planned at a later stage.
The launch represents another example of electronics manufacturers seeking a larger role in the automotive industry as vehicles become increasingly software-driven and electrified.
