Nio Inc has officially entered the Uzbek automotive market, marking its first move into Central Asia as the company continues to expand its international presence.
The electric vehicle maker opened its first showroom, branded Nio Space Tashkent, at the end of January, according to information shared on Sunday by Qin Lihong, the company’s co-founder and president. Images posted by Qin indicated the store opened on January 31, making Uzbekistan Nio’s first market in the Central Asian region.

Nio later said the Tashkent operation was established in partnership with Abu Sahiy Motors, a local conglomerate with activities spanning logistics, real estate and automotive sales. Under the partnership, Abu Sahiy Motors will support the rollout of Nio’s local sales, service network and charging infrastructure.
The company plans to introduce a broad product lineup in Uzbekistan, including the ET9 sedan, the EL8 and EL6 SUVs—known as the ES8 and ES6 in China—as well as the ET5 and ET5 Touring. Vehicles from Nio’s sub-brand Onvo, including the L90 and L60, will also be offered.

Nio said Onvo models will serve as the primary sales focus in the Uzbek market and will receive priority deployment, reflecting the brand’s positioning toward family-oriented and more accessible electric vehicles.
Nio first disclosed its intention to enter Uzbekistan in August 2025, identifying Abu Sahiy Motors as its local partner. The overseas renaming of certain models, such as the ES8 and ES6 to EL8 and EL6, is due to trademark considerations in international markets.
