Electrify America has announced that Nissan will become the ninth automaker to adopt its Plug&Charge technology, which will debut on the all-new 2026 Nissan LEAF.
The system allows drivers to start charging and process payment automatically by simply plugging in their vehicles at compatible stations.

Plug&Charge is available across Electrify America’s network of more than 5,000 chargers in the United States. After a one-time setup through the MyNISSAN app, vehicles can communicate directly with the charging station to handle authentication and billing, eliminating the need to use payment cards, mobile apps, or charger interfaces.
The technology has seen growing adoption since Electrify America first introduced it in 2020, with customer usage nearly doubling over the past year. Other automakers supporting the feature include Audi, BMW, Ford, Lucid, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and Volkswagen.

Plug&Charge relies on the secure ISO 15118 vehicle-to-grid communication protocol, which encrypts data to ensure safe transactions. In 2024, Electrify America’s network delivered more than 16 million charging sessions and over 600 gigawatt-hours of energy, marking a 65% increase from the previous year.
The company said it will continue expanding the network to meet rising demand from electric vehicle drivers.
