BYD’s luxury sub-brand Yangwang on Thursday unveiled its latest model, the U8L, a long-wheelbase version of its U8 off-road SUV, as the Chinese automaker deepens its push into the country’s premium sport utility vehicle market.
The full-size U8L was officially launched in a single “Dingshi Edition” trim with a starting price of RMB 1.28 million ($179,690), slightly below the RMB 1.3 million pre-sale price. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in late September.

Measuring 5,400 mm in length with a 3,250 mm wheelbase, the U8L is larger than the standard U8, which debuted in September 2023. The six-seat SUV runs on BYD’s e4 platform with four electric motors, producing 880 kW (1,180 hp) and 1,280 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds.
The hybrid SUV offers a CLTC battery range of 200 km and a combined range of 1,160 km when fully fueled and charged. Features include BYD’s DiSus-P body control system for enhanced ride comfort and the company’s advanced “God’s Eye A” smart driving suite with DiPilot 600 driver assistance.

In keeping with its ultra-luxury positioning, Yangwang offers an optional emblem crafted from 24K gold. Like the standard U8, the U8L incorporates emergency flotation, tank turn, and blown-tire stability features.
Yangwang has steadily expanded its lineup since its debut last year, launching the U8 in September 2023, the U9 electric supercar in February 2024, and the U7 sedan in March 2025.
