Hyundai has released the first teaser images of a new electric vehicle concept that will debut at the IAA Mobility Show 2025 in Munich on September 9, hinting at what could become the automaker’s entry-level Ioniq 2 model.
The images show full-width LED light bars at the front and rear, design cues similar to the updated Ioniq 6 sedan.

The concept adopts a compact fastback silhouette with a ducktail spoiler, prominent bumper intakes and flared fenders. Hyundai said two additional sets of teaser photos will be revealed before the show, likely offering a clearer look at the exterior.
Spy photographs of a camouflaged prototype also suggest that the production vehicle will follow the concept’s proportions, though styling details may differ.

Industry analysts expect the model to be the smallest member of the Ioniq family, positioned above the electric Inster and serving as a zero-emission alternative to the i20 supermini and Bayon crossover.
Reports indicate it could be built on Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP platform, shared with Kia’s EV2 and EV3, with a single-motor powertrain producing around 201 horsepower (150 kW) and paired with a 58.3 kWh battery pack.

The compact EV is expected to compete with a growing field of subcompact electric hatchbacks, including the Renault 5 E-Tech, Peugeot E-208, Nissan Micra EV, Opel Corsa Electric, Citroën e-C3 and BYD Dolphin.
Market launch is anticipated in the first half of 2026, following the concept’s premiere in Munich, where the IAA Mobility Show will run from September 9 to 14.
